In celebration of the 5th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the Chinese Mission to ASEAN and the China Public Diplomacy Association jointly held a Cultural Open Day in Jakarta on June 23. Ambassador Wang Qing and his wife Mme. Gu Shaohua, Mrs. Tong Xiaoling, Vice President of the China Public Diplomacy Association, Mr. San Lwin, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, together with diplomatic envoys to ASEAN and other 150 plus guests, were present.

Ambassador Wang Qing reviewed in his remarks the significant achievements and progresses made under the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership over the past five years, and he stressed that people-to-people exchanges between the two sides have played an irreplaceable role in building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future. China stands ready to be guided by the Global Civilization Initiative, continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN in the cultural and people-to-people fields, promote mutual learning among civilizations, carry forward friendship from generation to generation, and work hand in hand to build a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home for the region.

The Quanzhou Art Troupe from China’s Fujian Province brought to the event their performances of Nanyin, puppetry and other intangible cultural heritage, along with creative cultural displays, and joined by the traditional Balinese dance performance by the students of the LSPR Institute of Jakarta, the event's organizer. They showed perfect match on the stage and received warm welcome from the guests.
