On April 21, Ambassador Wang Qing attended the First Meeting of the Group of the East Asia Summit (EAS) Participating Countries’ Ambassadors to ASEAN at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta.

Ambassador Wang stated that, facing the new situation in a world fraught with turmoil and changes, East Asia Summit Participating Countries (EPCs) should enhance solidarity, seek common ground while shelving differences, resolutely safeguard the international system with the UN at its core, uphold the basic norms governing international relations underpinned by the purposes and principles of the U.N. Charter, and promote common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security, so that the Asia Pacific region will enjoy sustained peace, stability and development.

Ambassador Wang put forward China’s views and suggestions on the implementation of the East Asia Summit Plan of Action (2024-2028), stated China’s propositions on safeguarding and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, and reiterated China’s position on the South China Sea, Taiwan and the resurgence of neo-militarism in the region.
