Ambassador Wang Qing held working exchanges with Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on March 10 on China-ASEAN relations as well as regional and international issues of common interest.

Ambassador Wang briefed Dr. Kao on the "Two Sessions" (the annual NPC and CPPCC sessions) and China’s domestic and foreign policies, stressing that China always places neighboring countries in a priority position on its diplomatic agenda and ASEAN is a priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy. Ambassador Wang indicated that, against the backdrop of a more volatile international situation, China stands ready to work with ASEAN to practice true multilateralism and open regionalism, and take the opportunity of 5th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to deepen cooperation across the board, advance the building of a neighborhood community with a shared future and make greater contributions to peace, development and prosperity in the region and beyond.
Dr. Kao Kim Hourn stressed that ASEAN takes China as an important partner and will dovetail development strategies, deepen practical cooperation in various fields and jointly hold events to mark the 5th anniversary of ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, so as to take ASEAN-China relations to new heights and help promote the implementation of “ASEAN Community Vision 2045”.
