On November 13, 2025, Ambassador Hou Yanqi attended the Third Meeting of the Group of the East Asia Summit (EAS) Participating Countries’ Ambassadors to ASEAN at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta.

Ambassador Hou stated that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, which concluded successfully not long ago, adopted the Recommendations for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development. The plan is a top-level strategic design of China’s development for the next five years and beyond. Regardless of any interference or disruption by certain countries, China will focus on doing its own work well, and steadfastly pursue high-quality development, expand high-standard opening-up, and further advance Chinese modernization. Against rising unilateralism and protectionism, the East Asia Summit should continue to be a “leader-led forum” and promote constructive dialogue and pragmatic cooperation in a balanced way, to make greater contributions to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

The meeting discussed the outcomes and follow-up to the 20th East Asia Summit and the progress in the implementation of the East Asia Summit Plan of Action (2024-2028), and exchanged views on regional development cooperation and security policies.
