Fu Fengshan, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Mission to ASEAN, attends the Second Iteration of the High Contracting Parties to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia

On September 18, Fu Fengshan, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Mission to ASEAN, was invited to attend and speak at the Second Iteration of the High Contracting Parties to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) at the ASEAN Secretariat.

Mr. Fu stated that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations. Faced with multiple global and regional challenges, the High Contracting Parties should seize the 50th anniversary of the signing of the TAC next year as an opportunity to reaffirm their original aspirations and mission, practice its purposes of amity and cooperation, and promote peaceful coexistence and common development. President Xi Jinping recently put forward the Global Governance Initiative, providing another public goods to the world with Chinese wisdom and solution. As the first dialogue partner of ASEAN to accede to the TAC, China will continue to work with all parties to uphold the spirit and principles of the TAC, build an open and inclusive regional architecture, and inject more stability and positive energy into the turbulent world.

Representatives of 57 High Contracting Parties were present. The important role and value of the TAC were reaffirmed at the conference. All parties expressed their willingness to deepen dialogue and cooperation to jointly promote peace, stability, and prosperity.
