
On September 10, the Chinese Mission to ASEAN held a media and think tank salon under the theme “Taking Lessons from History, Make Joint Efforts for a Shared Future” to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The salon was attended by representatives from leading ASEAN media outlets and think tanks.
Mr. Fu Fengshan, Chargé d'Affaires of the Mission, elaborated on President Xi Jinping’s important address at the commemoration event in Beijing and the key principles of the Global Governance Initiative. From the perspectives of peace, development, and vision, he highlighted the significant contributions of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as its profound impacts on global peace, development, and the international order. He emphasized that the Global Governance Initiative further contributes China’s wisdom and presents China’s solutions to strengthening and improving global governance, injecting stability and certainty into today’s turbulent world.
Mr. Fu expressed that as major forces of the Global South, China and ASEAN should work together to jointly promote the Asian values of peace, cooperation, openness, and inclusiveness, and stick to the correct historical perspective on World War II. We should jointly safeguard the post-war international order, adhere to true multilateralism and open regionalism, and firmly defend international fairness and justice.
ASEAN journalists and scholars spoke highly of the significant contributions made by the Chinese people to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the value of the times of the Global Governance Initiative. The participants actively shared insights and suggestions on upholding the post-war international order and promoting regional peace and development.
