From May 19 to 20, 2025, the 7th ASEAN-China-UNDP Symposium on Sustainable Development was jointly organized by the Mission of the People's Republic of China to ASEAN, the ASEAN Secretariat and the UNDP in Bali, Indonesia.

Ambassador Hou Yanqi delivered the opening remarks, introducing the key messages of the Central Conference on Work Related to Neighboring Countries, emphasizing that China has always regarded ASEAN as a priority of its neighborhood diplomacy. She noted that China looks forward to working closely with ASEAN and UN agencies to focus on the UN 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development, advancing the implementation of the Global Development Initiative in the region, and leveraging the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund and the Asean-China Cooperation Fund(ACCF) to deepen practical cooperation, so as to accelerate the modernization-driven empowerment of rural industries, and promote the empowerment of rural women in serving the building of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future. 

The symposium participants engaged in in-depth discussions on rural development, food resilience, and women empowerment, under the theme of “Localizing the Global Goals: A Strategy for SDGs Implementation”.
