MFA Convenes Conference for Chiefs of Overseas Mission

On April 10,2025, a Conference for Chiefs of Overseas Mission was convened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Beijing.

Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, spoke at the conference. Wang underscored the imperative for the foreign service to gain a deep understanding of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and, with a strategic perception of China’s national rejuvenation amidst global transformations not seen in a century, unite more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, and align way of thinking, understanding and action with the major assessments and policy decisions made by the CPC leadership on external work. The foreign service must be firmly committed to safeguarding the decision of establishing Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole as well as establishing the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era, and to upholding Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the whole Party and upholding the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership. They must see to it that the major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics will advance in big strides under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping. Resolute and adept actions are required to firmly safeguard China’s sovereignty, security and development interests. Proactive and pioneering efforts should be made to open new vistas for the major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. It is important to hold high the banner of building a community with a shared future for mankind, and promote the full implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative.

Qi Yu, Secretary of CPC Committee of the MFA, laid out specific requirements on continuing to strengthen Party building and develop a strong contingent of personnel in the foreign service, and on building an iron-willed diplomatic service that is loyal to the Party, brave in shouldering responsibilities, always ready and able to defend national interests, and highly disciplined.
