On March 21, 2025, Ambassador Hou Yanqi held the Media and Think Tank Salon under the theme of “Insights from the Two Sessions: Forging a Shared Future for China and ASEAN” and gave a detailed briefing on China’s Two Sessions to over 20 regional mainstream media and think tank representatives and exchanged ideas with them.

Ambassador Hou elaborated on the significance of the Two Sessions, the extraordinary achievements and expected target of China's economic and social development, explained the philosophy of Chinese modernization and Chinese foreign policy, conveyed the firm confidence in China's future development, and depicted the bright prospects of China-ASEAN cooperation.

Ambassador Hou said that in the face of a turbulent international situation, President Xi Jinping has put forward a series of major concepts and initiatives to lead the future direction, and has been increasingly welcomed and supported by the international community. China's certainty and stability has injected confidence into the world. Ambassador Hou criticized the United States for pursuing unilateralism and hegemonism, and stressed that developing countries should unite to encounter risks and challenges and jointly promote an equal and orderly multipolar world, and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization. China will continue to follow the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness in its neighborhood diplomacy, and work with ASEAN to build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
