Ambassador Hou Yanqi Attended and Co-Chaired the 14th Joint Council Meeting of the ASEAN-China Centre

On December 16, 2024, the 14th Joint Council Meeting of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) was held in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China. Ambassador Hou Yanqi co-chaired the meeting with Mr. Chatoulong Bouasisavath, Director General of the ASEAN Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR–the Chair of ASEAN. Secretary General of the ACC Shi Zhongjun, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States to ASEAN, officials from ASEAN Embassies and Consulates in China, and representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat attended the meeting.

Ambassador Hou introduced outcomes of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the new progress of the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and expressed the hope that the ACC would make good use of its own advantages, seize the opportunities brought by China's further deepening of reform comprehensively for the common development of China and ASEAN, implement the important consensus of the leaders of the two sides, expand achievements of practical cooperation, facilitate the success of the 2025 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges, thus making greater contributions to the development of China-ASEAN relations.

The meeting was briefed on the report of the Joint Executive Board of the ACC, reviewed and adopted the Draft Summary Record of the 13th Joint Council Meeting of the ACC, the Draft Annual Report of the ACC 2024 and the Draft Annual Work Programme of the ACC 2025.
