Ambassador Hou Yanqi Attended the Jakarta Forum on ASEAN-China Relations

On November 1, the Chinese Mission to ASEAN together with the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to ASEAN held the Jakarta Forum on ASEAN-China Relations: Bridging and Bonding by Connectivity. Secretary-General of ASEAN H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, diplomatic envoys to ASEAN, and more than 150 participants including representatives of governments, business, academia and media attended the event.

Ambassador Hou Yanqi highlighted the importance of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the outcomes of the leaders’ meetings on East Asian cooperation attended by Premier Li Qiang, stressing that China’s series of important reform measures provide new opportunities for China-ASEAN cooperation and the common development of the region, and hoped that both sides would further promote high-level and inclusive connectivity, and enhance people-to-people connectivity, to elevate the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to new heights.

Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn spoke highly of the leading role of ASEAN-China relationship and its extensive range of cooperation. Participants interacted intensively and positively affirmed the cooperation achievements in connectivity and people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN and China, and looked forward to the continued expanding of converging interests with China, so as to promote the development and prosperity of the region.
