On 2 April 2024, the 25th Meeting of ASEAN-China Joint Cooperation Committee was convened at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. The Meeting was co-chaired by Ambassador Hou Yanqi and Ambassador Aung Myo Myint, Permanent Representative of Myanmar to ASEAN as the country coordinator for ASEAN-China relations, and attended by ambassador and representatives from ASEAN Member States, Timor-Leste as Observer, and the ASEAN Secretariat.

Ambassador Hou gave a comprehensive introduction about the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs and the annual Two Sessions, reviewed the progress of ASEAN-China relations, and briefed on China’s proposals for ASEAN-China cooperation in 2024. Ambassador Hou emphasized that China will actively foster new quality productive forces and advance Chinese modernization with high-quality development. China will work with ASEAN to build a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home for China and ASEAN and a closer ASEAN-China community with a shared future.

The meeting discussed the key agendas of ASEAN-China cooperation in 2024, and agreed to continue to implement the consensus reached by the leaders between the two sides, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields, and push forward the sustained growth of ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
