The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, since its establishment in 1967, has been upholding the motto of “One Vision, One Identity, One Community”, seeking strength through unity and developing step by step. It has now developed into a remarkable regional cooperation organization, demonstrating infinite vitality and vigor. With profound histories and diverse cultures, Southeast Asian countries are like beautiful pearls scattered in the region, suffused with charming scenery, shimmering with splendid civilizations, and abundant with exquisite arts, attracting people from all over the world to wander around, and also being the most popular tourist destinations for Chinese people.

China and ASEAN countries are connected by the same mountains and rivers and share close affinity. Linked by the Maritime Silk Road, we have a long history of interaction and mutual learning. Since the establishment of dialogue relations in 1991, China and ASEAN have focused on development, and become more interconnected and mutually reinforcing. With close exchanges and cooperation in fields including political security, economy and trade, and people-to-people exchanges, we have forged the largest trading partnership, the most substantial cooperation partnership and the most dynamic strategic partnership.

In November 2021, President Xi Jinping and leaders of ASEAN Member States jointly announced the establishment of a China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, pledging to build together a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home, thus charting the course for China-ASEAN relations in the new era. After more than 30 years of fruitful cooperation, China and ASEAN have set sail together to achieve more success. It is believed that with the personal guidance from the leaders and the joint efforts of all parties, a new chapter will be opened for China-ASEAN relations, and new splendors will be achieved.

The Mission of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN, established in 2002 and located in Jakarta, the seat of the ASEAN Secretariat, is China’s permanent diplomatic mission to ASEAN and is devoted to conducting ASEAN-oriented multilateral cooperation in the region. As a window and a bridge for all parties to learn about China-ASEAN relations, we will present the latest progress of China-ASEAN all-round friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields in a timely and accurate manner, and look forward to your attention and support as well as that of people from all walks of life. Let’s work together to contribute to building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future and promoting regional peace and development together.
