ASEAN Secretary-General and Committee of Permanent Representatives invited for test ride of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway

On September 25, at the invitation of H.E. Hou Yanqi, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN and H.E. Derry Aman, Indonesian Permanent Representative to ASEAN, Secretary-General of ASEAN H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Deputy Secretary-General H.E. Ekkaphab Phanthavong, members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR), and Ambassadors of some ASEAN dialogue partners jointly took a ride on the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, a flagship project under Belt and Road cooperation between China and Indonesia.  

H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn and other guests took the high-speed train from the Halim Station in Jakarta to the De Karur Station in Bandung, and returned to Jakarta after visiting the De Karur Station. During the test ride, an official in charge of the Indonesia-China joint firm running the high-speed train KCIC (PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China) gave an overall introduction of the construction and operation preparation for the railway, and answered questions from the guests.

H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn and ambassadors highly praised the examplary significance of Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway as it is the first one in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. They were greatly impressed by the comfortable and convenient ride and the tangible outcomes brought by the Belt and Road cooperation to ASEAN countries, and expressed their wishes to strengthen connectivity cooperation with China for the benefit of people in the region.
